In the field of air transportation in Peru, a new tariff called Unified Airport Use Tariff (TUUA) has been implemented, which may affect those who make stopovers in Lima. Here we explain what it is, who must pay it, how much it is and how it affects your trip.
- What is the transfer TUUA? It is an additional payment to be made by passengers who make a connection (i.e. stopover) at the new Jorge Chávez Airport and use its facilities while waiting.
- How much does it cost? For international transfer flights it has been set at approx. US$ 11.32; for domestic transfer flights, about US$ 7.07.
- When will it be implemented? Although there were temporary suspension periods for some types of passengers, implementation is planned with the new terminal.
- Who is affected? Passengers making a stopover (not final destination) in Lima, using airport facilities before continuing their flight. For example, someone arriving from an international flight and departing on another flight a few hours later.
- What does this mean for you as a traveler? When you purchase your airline ticket, this additional charge may appear (or be included by the airline), which slightly increases the total cost of the trip. It is important to be informed when making reservations. Some packages may already include it.
Final adviceWhen planning your flights with a stopover in Lima, ask your travel agent to verify if the TUUA fare is included or not, and evaluate direct alternatives or non-stop routes if you prefer.
